Detox dandelion healthy paste
I have read a few articles and watched a couple of programs related to fasting for longevity of recent. They have sparked an interest I have to say. Here are some of the things that happen to your body during fasting according to evidence based research : Blood levels of insulin drop which facilitates fat burning, The body induces important cellular repair processes such as removing waste material from cells, There are beneficial changes in several genes and molecules related to longevity and protection against disease. We all know that diets just don't work unless you are on one permanently and reality is that food can sometimes become the enemy during a diet frenzy. The idea of starving oneself is not ideal however 24hrs is achievable in my eyes. I started fasting yesterday from 10am and finished up today at 10am, my yoga buddies were also onboard which was great to talk about how spacey and calm we all were. I still went to the gym and yoga and could still be a wife and mother just like before and my energy levels were fine. There are so many ways you can fast but finding one that suits you is best. Ample amount of fluids like detox teas, lemon water and a vegetable juice got me through the day. Verdict is, I feel great, lighter and calmer, my digestive system feels like it has had a break for a bit and yes my tummy feels flatter and I feel a little, dare I say...thinner. I have certainly realised that out of boredom or habit I eat when I am not actually hungry and although I am healthy and generally eat better than most, doing a little cleanse like this every Monday is totally doable for me. ( especially after a weekend of indulgence! )
Today being my first real meal in 24 hrs I wanted something tangy and alive as well as some bitter greens to follow on from my fast. Dandelion leaves contain an abundance of nutrients and are packed with minerals and antioxidants like vitamin c, b6, iron and potassium to name a few. It went perfect in my healthy paste today and don't limit yourself to a spread for toast, toss over roasted or steamed vegetables too.
